What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections help the facial muscles relax and as a result makes wrinkles less visible. Anti-wrinkle injections are perfect for treating and improving the appearance of wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines, laughter lines and crow’s-feet.

Why anti-wrinkle injections?

If you want to look younger and reduce the appearance of ageing then anti-wrinkles injections are right for you. Anti-wrinkle injections are far more effective than anti-winkle creams and cheaper in the long term.

Botulinum is a prescribed mediation and should only be administered by a healthcare professional, a medical doctor or dentist, who has had additional training in aesthetic medicine.

All our treatments are carried out by our very approachable experienced medical doctors.

How long does it last?

Botulinum begins to work from three to ten days after injection. The effect lasts up to three to four months for most people, but some find the effect may last up to six months.

At your initial consultation you will meet your medical doctor.  Your doctor will examine your facial muscles and explain how the procedure works. They will be also answer any questions you may have.

Once you are happy to proceed, your doctor will administer the anti-wrinkle injections using a very fine short needle by employing a sterile technique.

The entire treatment is usually completed within ten to twelve minutes. Sometimes an ice pack is applied to the injection site after the procedure to reduce swelling but often this is not necessary.

You should avoid facial massages, alcohol and saunas/ steamrooms for twenty four hours after the procedure.

The result of the anti-wrinkle treatment usually takes up to a week to become noticeable.

Usually after two weeks you will meet with your doctor to see how your wrinkles have become less visible and to ensure your satisfaction.

In the meantime you may contact us by phone if you have any queries.

As with any medical procedure there are always potential side effects, thankfully these are very rare and most people feel no side effects at all.

Occasionally a temporary drooping of the eyelid may occur, this may last a few weeks but always resolves. Other potential side effects include bruising, numbness and infection at the injection site, headache and nausea. Thankfully all of these are very rare and short-lived.
